The school social worker (SSW) primarily provides services to students who receive Special Education Services.  The SSW assists students in reaching his/her fullest academic and personal potential within the school setting. School social workers are a member of a multidisciplinary educational team that addresses situations and conditions that interfere with the student’s learning process. New Mexico school social workers are licensed professionals with the state licensing Board of Social Work Examiners as well as with the NM PED (Public Education Department).
