 Like a Lobo Reading Challenge

Coming October 10-30, 2016

Reading makes students winners everyday, but this month, the UNM Lobos will give elementary students and schools something worth really howling about -- an extra incentive to crack open a book or three!

Win a tour of the Lobo stadium, participate in the pre-game Fan Tunnel, Walk the Prowl, or get to go out on the field during half-time of the Lobo football game on November 5th.  Help your school win $1,000, $1,500, or $2,000 for books!

How?  Keep a reading log for three weeks and simply record the number of minutes that you read outside of school each day.  Turn the log in weekly for your teacher to sign.  Completed logs are due October 31st

The school with the top number of minutes read will win the grand prize of $2,000!  Six students from every school (one per grade level) will win 2 tickets to the November 5th Lobo game and a chance to be involved in one of the extra special Lobo activities.

Tickets for the November 5th game against Nevada will also be sold through the following for a special price of $13 each.  A portion of sales from every ticket will got to your school.

Stay tuned for more information to come in the future and GET READY TO READ LIKE A LOBO!!!!!!

The Jog-a-Thon was a lot of fun for everyone yesterday and the kids did AMAZING.  Please turn in ALL money that you raise from pledges no later than October 31st.

This is a great fundraiser for our school because 100% of all money raised goes directly to the school. A full 25% of your class’ pledges go straight back to you for use in your classroom  and the remainder goes to fund the PE program and improvements to the school facilities in order to help keep the children active and healthy.

The class that raises the most money gets possession of the Jog-a-thon traveling trophy for one year and their name on the permanent Jog-a-thon plaque in the trophy case.

The class from each grade level that raises the most money gets a pizza party.

If the school raises $5,000 or more Coach Jackson will shave his head and allow students to sign it with a sharpie.

Every student who raises at least $40 will receive a Jogathon Medal.

There will be 1st ,2nd and 3rd place ribbons for the students who complete the most laps for each class.

Monday:  Mismatch Messy Monday
Tuesday: Terrific Theme Park Characters
Wednesday:  Rockin' Maggie colors
Thursday:  Game Day (wear your favorite team gear)

Fall Carnival:
Parents,  2nd grade as a whole is putting together a basket for the auction.  We are asking for gift card donations for this basket.  The money that comes from this basket at auction will go into your student's classroom account.  My classroom with also be participating in a game.  For this, I am asking for donations of "Dum Dum" suckers and also party favor toys.  These can be purchased at the Dollar Store, Walmart, Party City, etc.  Thank you for all your support.

Homework: Weekly homework is sent home on Monday and is collected and reviewed on Friday.  Please refer to the homework calendar to see nightly requirements. Remember that each calendar box needs to be initialed nightly in order for students to receive credit for nightly reading.

Daily Snack: Students need to bring in a healthy snack from home daily.  We have a late lunch so it is important for students to have a mid-morning snack.
